Opened in 1881, the Best Western Hotel Spaander is a traditional redbrick inn next to the harbour in central Volendam 21 kilometres from the centre of Amsterdam. The hotel was once a popular meeting point for artists from across Europe, many of whom paid their bill with the paintings that adorn the walls today. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) is 40 kilometres away.
