Minibuses and buses are a common form of transport, however, taxis are a good alternative. A river bus travels down the Nile from Cairo. Boats leave regularly for the University. Every other boat continues on to Rhoda, Manial, Masr al Qadima (old Cairo), and Giza. Driving is not advised for visitors, due to congestion in the city.
